Shortly after meeting Ryan, I suggested making this book together as a means of surfacing the backstories that propelled his work in a manner consonant with their eccentric, obtuse nature. Each work is therefore articulated according to its specific idiosyncrasy, interspersed with free-ranging conversations we had about some common themes along the way. I think of it as a kind of rough demo tape, especially in light of the difficult second album which followed.
